ZTE Unveils The Blade V8 Lite And Blade V8 Mini

After a lot of rumors about the existence of other variants of the Blade series due to the announcement of the Blade V8 Pro at CES earlier this year, ZTE finally showed off a couple of its new smartphones. One of two new devices is called the ZTE Blade V8 Lite, implying a less expensive variant of the  higher end Blade V8 Pro and the other is the ZTE Blade V8 Mini, supporting “3D shooting” thanks to its dual camera setup at the back.

ZTE claimed that the Blade V8 Lite would be the smartphone offering competitive features at an unbeatable price, but we’ll need to wait for the release before we can judge its claim.

The company said that the design of its Blade V8 Lite was inspired by French upholstery and its curved design made it possibly just at 8mm thick too. The Blade V8 Lite owns a metallic design with a Zircon-sand blasting cover to help it get industrial look.

In terms of hardware, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD display, a MediaTek 6750 SoC inside, paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage. There’s an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash at the back and a “3D” fingerprint scanner sitting right below it. It also comes equipped a 5MP front-facing camera, a 2,500mAh capacity battery. As for software, the device will launch with Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of box.

Next up, the ZTE Blade V8 Mini features a 5-inch HD display as well, but this one is powered by the Snapdragon 435 chipset, paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 5MP front-facing camera, and a 2,800mAh capacity battery. Not only the Snapdragon chipset, the highlight point lies at its two rear cameras. The V8 Mini has a 13MP camera paired with another 2MP sensor at the back, which gives you the 3D shooting mode as well as a refocus mode.

There is no information about when the new ZTE smartphones will be launched, or at what price ZTE will be selling them, but the V8 Lite/V8 Mini will be targeted to the entry level market. ZTE announced that the Blade V8 Lite would be available in Italy, Germany, and Spain. As far as the V8 Mini, the device is said to be released in various markets across Asia Pacific and Europe.
