After a long wait, Samsung has finally officially introduced the duo Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) in the mid-range segment. Thanks to the previous leaks from other sources, we already get their design and technical specs.
Release date and price
The two new mid-range smartphones come with top-of-the-range features. When comparing to the 2017 Galaxy A range, the materials to create the phone including metal bodies and glass panels is still remained, in addition to the IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
The Galaxy A8 and A8+ 2018 feature an Infinity display 18.5:9 with Always-on function appearing on the top-end models come with a USB Type-C port at the bottom and a dual camera above the display.
There is a fingerprint scanner placed on the back placed, which is more accessible position than that of S8, S8+ along with a single camera put above it.
Although the company has not yet announced the official launch date for the two new phones, the CES 2018 will take place at the beginning of the New Year, we can expect that Samsung will make use of the Las Vegas fair to introduce them to the public. According to some previous rumors, the price tag of two new devices will be around $500.
On the Galaxy A8 2018, we’ll see a 5.6″ screen while the A8+ 2018 is a 6″ display. Both come with FullHD+ resolution. Powering two phones is a 7885 Exynos SoC with two 2.2GHz cores and six 1.6GHz cores.
In terms of RAM, the Galaxy A8 will pack with 4GB of RAM and the A8 Plus is 4/6GB of RAM. Both devices will be launched in 32GB or 64GB version of expandable storage with a microSD support up to 256GB. The A8 2018 is powered by a 3000 mAh while the A8+ is a 3500 mAh.
Two phones together offer a rear 16 megapixel with f/1.7 aperture, PDAF phase sensing autofocus. On the front, there will be two cameras with the first one featuring16 megapixels f/1.9 and the second one 8 megapixels f/1.9 respectively. The Live Focus feature also appears on them for the bokeh effect but only in the rear camera.

According to the leaked images, both smartphones will come with the same design as well as the same positions of the various opponents and physical keys.
It’s unclear if the dimensions are the same for both devices but some rumors suggest that the only differences come from the technical specs.
As mentioned, both A8 and A8+ will feature a new 18.5:9 display as well as a USB Type-C charging port at the bottom.
Thanks to the second diagram, the 3.5mm audio jack is still kept on both devices and a fingerprint reader will be put on the back for a more convenient access.
According to Samsung online database, the Galaxy A8 will be labeled SM-A530 and the A8+ 2018 will be SM-A730 respectively.
