The latest wave of leaks out of Mountain View has brought us some rather awaited piece of news. Guess what? The latest information on the Nexus 6P, the bigger and undoubtedly premium of the two Nexus devices Google is to announce next week. The leaks confirms detailed specs and a lot of earlier rumours too.
The leaks come from a public image gallery at image hosting site Imgur. It appears that the content of these leaks are a series of slides designed for retail employees to use as an information and promotional tool. It includes a set of hardware specifications and some awesome new photos.
The Nexus 6P is going to sport a premium metal body and 3450mAh battery. It shall sport a Snapdragon 801 version 2.1 processor and a 5.7″ screen with WQHD (2560×1440 16:9) screen. Though no information on the RAM or screen size yet, it’s likely to be at least 3-4 GBs and an IPS-LCD, keeping up with the lines of most flagships this year. It will run the latest version of Google’s Android Marshmallow (6.0), which currently in development.
The slide also says it weighs 178 gram weight, which is impressive, though my not a great factor. The current Nexus 6 from Motorola is 184 grams, and the 6P albeit has a heavier body and a bigger battery, yet weighs less. The slide also confirms dual front-facing speakers, a USB Type-C charging and data port for lightning fast transfer speeds. That metal body implies that the Nexus 6P probably won’ feature wireless charging, but Qualcomm’s quick charging ought to be included.
There are slides about the camera and the fingerprint sensor. These don’t reveal much details except for the marketing lines saying that camera “allows in more light”. We guess this means a low F-stop value. The slides also mention of Gorilla Class 4, the latest iteration of enhanced tempered glass from Corning, which is thinner and more resistant.
The presentation also showcases the features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Now on Tap. It also confirms that the Nexus 6P will be available in 32, 64, and 128GB capacities. The Nexus 6P’s all-metal aluminium body shall come in Aluminium, Graphite, Frost, and Gold finishes. And apparently that Gold variant will only be available in Japan for the time being. The benefits of the 3450 mAh battery has also been stressed, and it is said that the battery “keeps you going all day and into the night”.
By far this has been the most detailed leak, many important points are yet to be confirmed. The camera, display and most importantly the price. But for that we probably have to wait until September 29 when Google will announce the Huawei Nexus 6P, and the LG Nexus 5X (and probably a few other things), in San Francisco.
