Earlier this month, Chinese smartphone company, Huawei, launched its latest phablet – the Huawei Mate 9 at the Munich event. Besides, the company did not forget announcing the Mate 9 Porsche Design, a premium version with a dual-curved Quad HD AMOLED display. To complete the high-end Mate 9 series, Huawei has introduced a mid-range device, called the Mate 9 Lite.
The Mate 9 Lite will sport a 5.5-inch IPS Full HD display, with a 2.5D curved glass on the front. It will be equipped a chipset made by Huawei itself, Kirin 655 octa-core 16nm process accompanied with the Mali T830-MP2 GPU for the graphics. The Mate 9 Lite will also have two different options with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage, depending on the region. Both variants support a microSD card slot up to 256GB in size.

Huawei Mate 9 Lite will have dual cameras on the back with a main 12MP sensor with 1.25 micron sized pixels and a secondary 2MP sensor for depth sensing. On the front of the device will be an 8MP camera for selfie and video callings. Other smart features include Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS with GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE connectivity. The unibody smartphone will be packed with a 3340mAh non-removable battery inside, which could meet requirement for most users for a long-hour working day. Similar to the Huawei Mate 9, the “Lite” version also comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back below the camera.
According to some leaks, the Huawei Mate 9 Lite measures 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2mm and 162 grams for the weight, lighter than Mate 9 (190grams). The device will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with the company’s EMUI 4.1 interface when out of box. Huawei Mate 9 Lite will be available in three-color options at launch – Gray, Silver, and Gold. Now, we are not sure about the price, but hopefully it will be a mid-range product.
