After getting a lot of success for its Mate 9, the Chinese manufacturer is readying its successor, the Mate 10, which is expected to be released in October. It’s expected to arrive in a competitive market to come with an 18:9 display, dual camera and the in-house developed Kirin 970 processor, which is based on a 10 nanometer process. Here is all information we collected from other sources about this upcoming smartphone.
Huawei Mate 10: release date and price
The Huawei Mate 10 is expected to be launched on October 16 in Munich, Germany. It’s rumored that there is also a Lite version at the same time but we haven’t had any confirmation on this yet. If the previous rumors are true, the Mate 10 could be priced at a hefty $1100, which is nearly double higher over the $599 of its predecessor, the Mate 9.
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group said that the Mate 10 would come with a much longer battery life with a full-screen display, quicker changing speed, better photographing capability and other features that helped them to compete with Apple’s products. He also revealed that Huawei would stop producing low-end devices as it was not profitable enough for the firm to continue expanding globally.
Huawei Mate 10: design
The Huawei Mate 10 has recently passed through the FCC. This TENAA certification means that it is going to hit the market, and there is also some interesting information about the device. The Mate 10 will feature a 5.9 inch display with a 2:1 aspect ratio and a 1080 x 2160 resolution. But, we won’t get the rounded corners like the LG V30, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or S8.
Its dimension will be at 156.2 x 75.2 x 7.5 mm, and weigh at 164 grams due to its 3,240 mAh battery. The phone is expected to ship in two colors: blue and gold.
According to CEO Richard Yu , with the release of Mate 10, Huawei will join the ranks of the bezel-free. Taking a look at the leaked live images, you see that there are basically no bezels on the right and left of the screen. Notably the home button does not appear anymore, which appeared in a recent leak from @OnLeaks.

Huawei Mate 10: specs
The upcoming Huawei Mate 10 is expected to come with a performance monster. According to Pan Jiutang- an analyst, Huawei’s upcoming smartphone will be powered the latest Kirin 970 chipset, made by Huawei. The Kirin 970 is based on 10 nanometers process instead of 16 nanometers, as the Kirin 960 on the Huawei P10. In general, a smaller semiconductor size will absolutely bring a greater energy efficiency and better performance.
This new processor can compete with the Samsung’s latest SoC, Exynos 8895 and the Snapdragon 835 SoC from Qualcomm. The Kirin 970 processor would come with 8 cores that are 4 ARM Cortex-A73 clocked at 3 GHz and 4 ARM Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8 Ghz. In terms of graphic, Huawei should integrate with a Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. In camera department, the Mate 10 is said to have a dual camera, just like its predecessor.
