As you know, the unlocked iPhones will support the sim card of any network carrier. But you might sometimes feel confused when holding an iPhone as a glimpse does not inform that the sim is compatible or not. So, that’s why you should read the post below to know how to check if your iPhone is unlocked or locked.
Methods to Check if iPhone is Unlocked or Locked
There are now three common ways for you to find out if your device is fully unlocked or locked. It’s very handy when you buy a second iPhone, or borrow an iPhone from your friend to go overseas.
Check Unlock State Through SIM Cards
The easiest method to check the unlock status of the iPhone is removing the current SIM and then inserting SIM of another carrier. After that wait for a few seconds, you can check if the phone displays the signals of the carrier service.
For instance, if you are in the U.S., you can insert a T-Mobile SIM into your AT&T iPhone and check if it’s unlocked or not. If it has the signals, it means your iPhone is unlocked and you can easily borrow a SIM from a friend for the travel purpose or ask the carrier store to activate your device.
Use Web Service To Check Status
If you don’t like having access to another carrier SIM, you can take advantage of the IMEI web service to check the unlock status. It’s very simple and the service will be handy to check the status:
- Dial *#06# on the phone app to find the IMEI number (or go to Setting > General > About to get IMEI numbers). You can also use iTunes to check or see the back of your iPhone or the SIM card slot.
- Go to this website. From there, enter the exact IMEI number, tick on I’m not a robot and hit ‘Enter’. It will take a few seconds for the servers to check your IMEI number. Once the process í completed, you will see the status of the unlock status along with the additional information.
