HTC has just introduced the newly exciting HTC U11+ smartphone alongside the U11 Life. If this 6-inch, 2:1 format phablet will be a great choice among a forest of 2017 flagships, or will outshine the rest in its category, let’s find out in this hand on review.
HTC U11 Plus Design
There are not any changes compared to the U11 for an overall size, apart from the larger display and the fingerprint sensor now being put at the back.
However, the design of the HTC U11+ looks more elegant than its predecessor, thanks to the new 2:1 aspect ratio. Furthermore, the device is equipped IP 68 certification, which is now better protection against dust and water.
HTC U11 Plus Display
In 2017, the 18:9 display is a new trend among manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Huawei. Now, HTC has finally followed this trend with the HTC U11+, though it’s a little bit late and still comes with Super LCD technology in the display. The phone features a 6-inch screen with a 1,440 x 2,880 resolution. According to the company’s advertisement, the U11+’s display will be compatible with HDR10, but it just works in the next software update as HTC has yet to negotiate with content providers such as Netflix and Amazon.
HTC U11 + Special Features& Software
Similar to its predecessor, HTC U11, the U11 + also comes with the squeezable sides, called this Edge Sense. HTC has further renewed the software for the U11 Plus so it can now be configured for more actions. It can now not only launch various apps and voice assistants just by a squeeze, but the functions can also be controlled that way.
In terms of software, the HTC U11 Plus will, of course, run on the Android 8.0 Oreo with the HTC Sense customizable interface on top. Moreover, you’ll find three popular assistants, including board Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and HTC Companion on the U11+.

The HTC U11+ has inherited the technical from its predecessor with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 from chipset, 6 GB of RAM (depending on market) and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 flash memory or 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expandable up to 2 TB via MicroSD card slot.

HTC U11+ Camera
In camera department, HTC sticks to the tried and true. The U11+ features a single 12.2 MP camera at the back with the f / 1.7 aperture, and a focal 28mm long. Coming to the stabilization, HTC relies on the optical duo and the electronic image stabilization. The selfie camera comes with an 8 MP sensor with f / 2.0 aperture and a focal length of 28mm.

The HTC U11+ is powered by a 3,930 mAh battery. So with that kind of the capacity, the device is hot on the heels of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro with its 4,000 mAh battery. HTC also impresses on both the Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Power Delivery for the fast charging technology.
Release date and price
The HTC U11+ will be available for later this month in Ceramic Black color, while Translucent Black color only goes on sale in the first quarter of 2018. For the latter variant, you will see the inner workings, which is a clever touch.
Although HTC has no plans to release the HTC U11+ for the US, it will hit Europe, Asia and other markets globally. The 6 GB RAM variant will be ready for purchase on November 20 for £699 in UK, which is approximately $925 or €799 in Europe.
