Great news for all Nexus users! Vodafone Australia has revealed that the Android 7.1 OTA update for the Nexus devices will start rolling out on December 6, first is the Nexus 6P. Although the carrier did not mention anything about the other Nexus devices, it seems likely that Google will push out the update to other recent Nexus devices such as the Nexus 9, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, and the Google Pixel C tablet in the short time after the update rollout for the Nexus 6P. Until now, there are only two Android devices running on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat platform that are the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
According to a tweet of @Bluewall- a journalist, a few days ago said that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update would be released to the entire Nexus family from December 6. That means all the Nexus listed above devices will receive the Android 7.1.1 update in some weeks after. Of course, it will take times so that OTA rollouts reach all devices, so if some of you may have to wait a little longer than others to receive the update, do not worry. Besides the Nexus family, Google could be bring the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on Android One devices as well.

While the older Nexus smartphones will be tasting new features of Android 7.1.1, they will not support for the new Daydream platform after being updated, as Daydream requires a strong and compatible hardware, a software update will be possible on the older Nexus handsets. Motorola’s Moto Z and Moto Z Force are two exceptions when they have the compatible hardware, which explains why they can support Daydream VR after the Android 7.0 Nougat update. But user’s older Nexus devices can still grab features such as new icons, updated storage manager, GIF image support for the AOSP keyboard and other expectable features.
